Senator Richard Blumenthal, one of the most prominent members of the US Senate, told Rudaw Network that Congress is working to protect the Kurds, expressing hope that the US administration would make greater efforts in this regard.

He said: “I believe we must protect the Kurds in Syria and take steps to ensure they are safeguarded from any punishment or retaliation by the Syrian government. This is America’s responsibility because we were partners and worked with them. I am working with my colleagues on any proposed legislation, but I hope the US government will provide them with greater protection.”

US Senator Chris Coons also expressed deep concern over “the safety and security of our Kurdish partners in the Syrian Democratic Forces,” stressing that the interim government “must” halt its attacks and “enter into dialogue with the Kurds as the appropriate path.”

In a related context, British MP Feryal Clark stressed during a parliamentary question session that there are serious concerns about worsening conditions and the escalating humanitarian crisis in Rojava.

She said she shares the deep sense of betrayal felt by Kurdish communities and people who bravely fought against ISIS.

Clark called on the British government to support Kurdish rights under international agreements, affirming her continued efforts to promote human rights, the rule of law, and the protection of Kurds.
