The Afrin – Syria Human Rights Organization reported that the Turkish occupation's mercenaries, known as the "National Army," and settlers deliberately set fires in the lands and forests of occupied Afrin. They documented the damage caused by these fires, which resulted in the burning of 572 hectares and 5,720 trees during the last week of July 2024.

The organization indicated that after fires, deliberately set by Turkish occupation mercenaries and settlers settled by the Turkish occupation in the occupied areas, ravaged the forests of the towns of Rajo and Mobata in the Afrin countryside during the last week of July 2024, with the intent of trading the wood and producing charcoal from it. The affected locations included the villages of (Meydana, Sheikh Muhammadli, Simalkah, Kawanda, Adamo, Hasan, and between the villages of Jirkeh and Alimdara, and between the villages of Kamrouk and Simalah). The material damage inflicted on civilians and nature due to the recent fires was as follows:

- 372 hectares of land and forests were burned, planted with cypress, olive, and cherry trees in the villages of Meydana, including Simalkah, in the Raju district.

- 160 hectares in the village of Afraseh, Mobata city.

- 40 hectares in the village of Hasan, Rajo city .

- The number of cherry trees burned in the Meydana area up to the village of Simalkah was approximately 1,960 cherry trees.

- The number of olive trees burned in the region was approximately 3,760 olive trees.
