The conference, which started recently, focuses on the health implications of the isolation imposed by Turkish authorities on leader Abdullah Ocalan at Imrali Prison. It is organized by the Health Body of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria under the theme, "Isolation is the greatest threat to human health and a violation of the most basic right to life."

The event is taking place at the Sardam Cultural Center in the city of Hasaka, with participation from over 500 individuals, including medical professionals, representatives from medical associations, the Kurdish Red Crescent, medical students from Rojava University, and human rights advocates.

Notable attendees include: Evin Swed, Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria Region; the Syrian Democratic Forces; Women’s Protection Units (YPJ); representatives from the Syrian Initiative for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan; and the Co-Chair of the Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM), Ruken Ahmed and Gharib Hesso.

The conference began with the formation of a committee to manage its proceedings, led by Dr. Muhammad Nour Shabab and Dr. Jud Muhammad, Co-Chairs of the Health Body of the Autonomous Administration.

Dr. Saleh Asaf, Co-Chair of the Health Body for the Raqqa Canton, delivered the opening speech. He welcomed the attendees and outlined the conference's goals, stating, "Through this conference, we aim to contribute to its objectives. We gather today to address an issue with multiple dimensions, deeply affecting anyone who speaks of humanity. Since February 1999, leader Ocalan has been held in Imrali Prison under conditions that can only be described as inhumane."

Dr. Asaf emphasized that specific sessions would address the legal and health aspects of the situation.

Hamdan Al-Abed, Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration, also spoke, highlighting the importance of such events to specifically address the consequences of isolation and underscoring the need for leader Abdullah Ocalan's physical freedom.

The conference continues to discuss leader Abdullah Ocalan's current situation and the effects of isolation on his health through 5 key sessions. The event includes international participation from doctors, health specialists, and Kurdish politicians joining via Zoom.
