In a joint statement by the Yazidi Women's Union and the Yazidi Union in Afrin and Shahba Canton, read in the Sardam camp, by a member of the Yazidi Women's Union, Rohlat Daoud, the Yazidis in the Canton recalled the martyrs of the ISIS mercenary attack on Şengal in 2014.

The statement, which was read amid a gathering of Yazidis, who are raising the flags of the Yazidi Women's Union, pictures of leader Abdullah Ocalan, and banners that read, "Women have life, freedom towards women's revolution," "a denunciation of August 3 Farman the resistance of the Yazidi people will end the occupation," confirmed their continued resistance in the face of Turkish occupation state.

The statement pointed out that the ISIS's attack on the Şengal district is a painful page for the Yazidi community, and continues until today through the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries against the Yazidi community in Syria, as well as against Şengal through drones.

The resistance provided by the HPG, the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), the People's Protection Units (YPG) and the Şengal Protection Forces (YPŞ) in the face of ISIS left a legacy of resistance that still exists today among the Yazidi community, both in Şengal and wherever they are deployed

The statement stressed the need to close ranks to overcome the goals and policy of the Turkish occupation state, as they were able to defeat ISIS.
