Tribal Notable: Physical freedom for leader Ocalan step toward peace, democracy

The European Forum for Freedom and Peace launched the campaign on June 5, while the Syrian Initiative for leader Ocalan’s Freedom and the Syrian Lawyers’ Initiative for leader Ocalan’s Defense launched it in Syria on August 20. The campaign concluded on September 10, with results set to be announced on September 21.

In this context, Deqouri expressed through ANHA Agency his deep desire to meet leader Abdullah Ocalan, describing his presence and ideas as a fundamental reference point for building a shared democratic project for all Syrians.

He further explained that the participation of diverse Syrian components in the campaign reflects growing awareness of the importance of unity and solidarity in achieving justice and securing rights. “The freedom of Abdullah leader Ocalan is no longer just a political demand,” he said, “but has become a humanitarian and moral cause representing the will of millions. We are determined to continue the struggle until this goal is achieved.”

On the motives for his participation, Deqouri stated: “I joined this campaign because I believe that the leader’s vision and method of analysis are essential for resolving the crises of the Middle East. Many people seek direct dialogue with him because of his profound understanding of peace and democracy. A direct meeting makes it possible to grasp the essence of his evaluations and move forward with practical steps based on his ideas. Freeing him from Imrali is thus a crucial step toward achieving this.”

He emphasized that leader Ocalan’s calls have always been a clear appeal for peace and the establishment of a democratic society built on the principle of the brotherhood of peoples. “The essence of this call,” he noted, “and the tangible results it can produce, are closely tied to his physical freedom. For this reason, many look forward to meeting him in person. The correct and fruitful path for all peoples lies in his release. Only then can we walk together, side by side, toward a common future—different from the conflicts we face today.”

Deqouri added that the leader should not be reduced to his person alone, but represents an inspiring philosophy for the future: “He is the one who lights our way. Through his vision, we can take bold steps toward change. We believe he possesses the intellectual ability to address today’s challenges, but this requires his presence among us, free—not isolated in Imrali.”

Concluding, Nasser Deqouri issued an open invitation for broad participation in the campaign: “We have great hope that the entire world will join this effort to achieve our shared goal and contribute effectively to leader Abdullah Ocalan’s freedom.”
