Thousands of women march in support of YPJ resistance

Organized by Kongra Star and under the slogan “Together to protect our homeland,” thousands of Kurdish, Arab, and Syriac women in Al-Jazira canton went out in a massive march to support and assist the resistance of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) in the Tishreen Dam, and to denounce the crimes of the Turkish occupation mercenaries against captured female fighters.

The women carried banners written in Kurdish, Arabic, German, English and Italian, such as: “The Women’s Protection Units are the spirit of the revolution,” “The Women’s Protection Units are the dignity of the revolution,” “We are all the Women’s Protection Units,” “The Women’s Protection Units guarantee the protection of women,” and “It is time to protect the women's revolution", and "YPJ will liberate women". Women also raised the flags of the Women's Protection Units and Kongra Star.

The march started in front of Sony Roundabout, and toured the central market in the city of Qamishlo, amid chants of "Long live the resistance of the YPJ, women, life, freedom."

When the march reached the Martyr Qahraman Omri roundabout, the participants stopped for a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs. Rehan Loqo, sent a greeting to the Women's Protection Units who are resisting and struggling against the attacks of the Turkish occupation, and described this resistance as "historic in the women's resistance struggle."

Rehan noted that the Turkish occupation state had not stopped its attacks on the region of NE Syria since the outbreak of the spark on July 19 (2012), and said: “Why does it not stop its attacks? Because it wants to eliminate the women’s revolution, this revolution that could become an example for the world and for women to follow.”

Rehan stressed, saying: "We will not bow our heads to the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries. We will confront it with the strength and free spirit of women, and with the spirit of Kurdish, Arab, Syriac, Circassian, and Armenian women, we will prevail."

For her part, the co-chair of the Executive Council in Al-Jazira Canton, Vivyan Bahou Osei, said: “Today we are gathering, Arabs, Kurds, and Syriacs, to confirm that our cause is one, and our destiny is common. Our strength lies in our unity, and our unity is the weapon that can’t be defeated.”

Vivyan stressed that the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units are not just a military force, but rather a symbol of the common struggle and defense of the values ​​of freedom, dignity and equality. She said: "We stand today to say that we support you, and that their battle for peace is our battle in the field. Let us raise our voices in support and assistance, and let us send a message to the entire world that this land will remain steadfast thanks to the blood of the martyrs, and the support of its women and men together."

Vivyan explained that for the sake of the new Syria, it is necessary for women to unite with the voice of free women, and to write a new constitution that preserves the freedom and rights of women.
