Third Conference of Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement kicks off 

The third conference of the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement (TAJÊ) began today in Shangal, with the participation of 250 delegates, under the slogan "With Women, Life, Freedom: Towards a Communal Life."

The conference opened with a minute of silence in honor of the martyrs and victims of the 74 genocides perpetrated against the Yazidi community.

Members of the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement (TAJÊ) participated in the conference, along with spokespeople from the communes in the villages and towns of Sinjar, who were elected to represent the community. They wore traditional Yazidi attire. Women from the Arab community in Shangal also attended the conference.

Guests from Makhmur and Yazidi activists were also present, while Yazidi women's organizations unable to attend sent messages of support and participation.

The movement's spokesperson, Riham Hajo, delivered the opening address, congratulating Yazidi women, especially those from Shangal and welcoming the delegates and guests.

Reham Haji stated that the movement has struggled for the rights of Yazidi women and the defense of Shangal, emphasizing that Yazidi women have played a fundamental role in leading and organizing their community. She added that the establishment of the Yazidi Women's Freedom Movement was a response to the need for Yazidi women to organize themselves and defend their rights, despite the challenges and difficulties they faced.

She affirmed that the movement will continue its struggle to guarantee the rights of the Yazidi community and enhance the political and social role of women, noting that the women drew inspiration for their organizational experience from the ideas of leader Abdullah Ocalan and the sacrifices of female martyrs.

She also stressed the necessity of continuing the struggle for a free and democratic life, rejecting backward tribal customs and attempts to subjugate women, emphasizing that the current stage requires decisions that serve women and the Yazidi community.

The conference continues with speeches and messages from the families of martyrs and women of Makhmur, in addition to the reading of messages sent by prominent figures and women's organizations.

The conference will then proceed with the election of a committee to manage its proceedings, followed by the reading of Abdullah Ocalan’s assessments concerning women, a presentation of the movement's activity report over the past two years, and a discussion of the political, military, and social situation, as well as organizational efforts.

According to the preparatory committee, the movement's new internal regulations will be put to a vote by the delegates. This will be followed by the adoption of the work plan for the next two years and the adoption of several important decisions, before the election of a new coordinating body for the movement and the swearing-in ceremony.

The conference will conclude with a closing address, and its results will be announced at a later date.
