Tabqa women call for consolidating peace as path to building frree, democratic Syria

Amid the critical phase Syria is experiencing and the increasing social and political challenges, members of the Zenobia Women's Gathering Council in Tabqa Canton in North and East Syria emphasized that spreading the values of peace and coexistence among the various components of society is an urgent necessity, and that Syrian women play a pivotal role in confronting exclusionary discourses and behaviors alien to the region's culture.

In this context, Amina Suleiman, a member of the council's reconciliation committee, said: "At this stage, we must work together to consolidate peace and strengthen solidarity, led by women from all communities, in order to build a free, democratic Syria based on equality and justice for all. Syria is for all Syrians, men and women."

She added, "Every woman's work begins by establishing her presence in institutions and promoting the values of freedom and solidarity. Women are the true starting point for peace, especially after they have proven their presence in confronting terrorism, such as ISIS, and have freely and willingly assumed their role in institutional work."

For her part, Maryam Al-Abd, spokesperson for the Women's House at the Council, said, "Peace, tolerance, and brotherhood are not fleeting slogans, but rather the foundations upon which diverse democratic societies are built. When mutual respect prevails across cultures, religions, and ethnicities, it becomes easier to confront any exclusionary ideology or extremist behavior that threatens social unity."

She explained that women represent a true force for change, not merely participating parties, but carriers of the spirit of liberation and equality. Through their organization and initiatives, they open spaces for dialogue and reconnect the social fabric on the basis of justice and respect, making the values of peace a tangible reality in daily life.

Council member Alaa Al-Mohammad emphasized that: "Promoting the values of peace and tolerance among the components of society constitutes a fundamental foundation for any democratic project aimed at building a cohesive society with diverse identities. A society that respects its cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity is better able to confront alien ideas that seek to sow discord and division."

She added that women are not merely partners in public life, but rather a force that carries the spirit of change and liberation. Through their involvement in community institutions and initiatives, they become a unifying force and a voice calling for dialogue instead of conflict, and for partnership instead of domination.

She concluded by saying: "Protecting society from alien ideas is not achieved solely through political positions or laws, but rather through a collective awareness that is deeply rooted in the soul and translated into daily behavior. Here, women, with their moral strength and ability to educate and influence, become the heart of this awareness and the guarantor of its continuity, the guardian of the values of peace, and the architect of bridges of brotherhood among all its members."
