Syrian intellectuals praise “Unity of Stance of NE Syria’s Components” conference 

Syrian intellectuals expressed their admiration on social media for the conference, which took place yesterday in Hasaka city, considering it a prominent national event that reflects a genuine desire to enhance national unity and political pluralism.

Politician Zaid Al-Azem described the conference as a natural and responsible response to previous experiences that failed to genuinely represent Syria’s components. He affirmed that this gathering expresses an ambition to build a modern civil state based on equality and partnership among all citizens, away from outdated centralized and unilateral approaches.

He stated that the current phase requires a comprehensive review to ensure genuine participation of all Syrians in shaping the country’s future.

Meanwhile, Dr. Mahmoud Abbas viewed the conference as a positive model of participatory governance that promotes coexistence and mutual respect among diverse components. He emphasized that this experience proves Syria’s capability to build a diverse democratic homeland where patriotism is a living practice rather than just slogans.

Activist Khaldoun Samir welcomed the conference’s outcomes, expressing optimism that this event contributed to renewing national awareness and overcoming divisions that have hindered Syria’s progress.

In a related context, writer Mazid Al-Kuraidi highlighted the importance of rational and responsible reactions to such conferences, warning that emotional or escalatory stances could push the country toward dangerous paths. Al-Kuraidi stressed that the solution lies in a comprehensive review of the transitional process based on actual political consensus that builds a pluralistic political society ensuring participation and legitimacy, away from reductive views that divide Syrian society along sectarian or ethnic lines alone.

Poet Ahmad Bafi Alan noted that the silence from US envoy Thomas Barrack regarding the conference reflects implicit support for its convening, especially with the participation of religious and spiritual leaders via video conferencing, confirming the event’s significance and its role in shaping a more inclusive political future.

Thus, the Conference of the “Unified Stance of NE Syria’s Components” marked a promising milestone in Syria’s path toward genuine national unity based on diversity and partnership, a milestone reflecting the will of Syrians to build a stable homeland that guarantees everyone’s rights and preserves their dignity.
