Symposium  in Kobane calls for women's participation in Syrian constitution.

The Women's Office of the Syrian Democratic Council in Kobane held a dialogue seminar on women's participation in the Syrian constitution, with the participation of several female activists and representatives of political parties.

Berivan Hassen, the member of the Women's Office of the Syrian Democratic Council, spoke about the Syrian scene and the delicate transformations it is undergoing. She believed that the country is experiencing a critical moment that calls for insight and dialogue.

She emphasized that the ultimate goal is to discuss Syria's future on the basis of unity and partnership, where all components live side by side on one land.

Berivan Hassen warned that foreign influence extending into Syria only brings danger, noting that what is happening in Sweida and the east of the country is a clear example of the challenges that threaten Syria's present and future.

For her part, Jihan Khedro, the head of the Women's Office of the Syrian Democratic Council, noted that Syria is going through a highly sensitive phase, requiring all members of society to express their views and actively participate in shaping the future. She said, "We must give women a leading role in the Syrian society and a chance to be at the forefront of the process of building a new Syria. Today, there is a social contract that includes all individuals and communities, and women's rights occupy a fundamental position. It is our duty to  join ranks in order to build a more diverse, just, and beautiful Syria."

The symposium concluded with discussions on the drafting of the new Syrian constitution and the role women should play in the Syrian society. However, the current government continues to refuse to recognize this role or give it the status it deserves, deepening the controversy and making the issue of women's participation one of the most prominent obstacles to any genuine democratic transformation in the country.
