Speeches of NE Syria institutions’ representatives at conference of “Unified Stance of NE Syria’s Components”

The conference continues under the slogan "Together for Diversity that Strengthens Our Unity, and Partnership that Builds Our Future," held at the Cultural Center in the city of Hasaka in the Jazira Canton, with the participation of more than 400 figures representing the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) , as well as political, military, and security institutions and representatives of the components of North and East Syria.

The AANES: Our project Started on the principle of partnership and mutual recognition

After the opening speech, Hussein Osman, the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the AANES, delivered the AANES’ speech at the conference.

Osman said: "We meet today at a pivotal moment in the history of our region, where this phase requires from us the utmost national and societal responsibility, to rise to the challenges and jointly outline a future worthy of the sacrifices of our peoples."

He explained that the components of North and East Syria have formed a pioneering model of solidarity and cohesion, both during the stage of liberating the region from evil forces and regimes and ISIS mercenaries, and in the stages of political and social construction.

He affirmed that these components had a leading role in establishing the "Autonomous Administration project," which was launched on the principle of partnership and mutual recognition, and has today become a framework that expresses the will of the peoples of the region, advances their just causes, and preserves their gains.

He added: "The experience of North and East Syria has proven that building a free, democratic Syria cannot be achieved except through the solidarity of the Syrian society’s components, unity of stance, and rejection of all forms of exclusion and tyranny." He considered their project, with its principles of justice, equality, and decentralization, to be the cornerstone for any future project for a new Syria that embraces all its peoples without discrimination.

He stressed the necessity to intensify efforts in this sensitive phase to renounce sectarianism and racism, confront all attempts to sow discord and divisions, and work together to build a Syrian homeland that accommodates everyone, and that consolidates the culture of plurality and diversity as a source of richness, not as a tool of conflict.

Osman addressed the attendees, saying: "Our unity today is the real guarantee to preserve our achievements, and it is the strongest message we send to all who bet on dismantling our social fabric: we remain together, continuing the journey, striving to build a Syria for all its children, based on freedom, democracy, and dignity."

SDC calls for a comprehensive Syrian national conference

On her part, Leila Qarahman, the Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, expressed her deep appreciation for the holding of this conference amid a sensitive stage that requires everyone to meet above divisions, urging everyone to focus on the future of the country.

She added: "We meet today in Hasaka, the city of diversity, where identities intertwine and religions interlock; we meet to affirm together that civil peace is not a political option but a prerequisite for any comprehensive political solution and for building a real administration."

She confirmed that the experience they underwent through the Autonomous Administration model has proven that the strength of societies lies in their unity. She continued: "We cannot talk about a new Syria without putting women at its forefront, as they are a pillar for building the future and continue to struggle for a free and just homeland. We believe that any national project that does not place women’s freedom at the heart of its vision is an incomplete project. We emphasize the necessity for women to be partners in building Syria’s future and in building a just society that rejects discrimination and enshrines equality."

Leila expressed concern about the escalation of hate speech in Syria and what has happened in the coastal and Sweida regions, saying this speech aims to return the country to the cycle of divisions. She expressed rejection of such discourse and called for holding accountable those who promote it to ensure Syria’s unity and stability.

She confirmed the Syrian Democratic Council’s support for all initiatives seeking to unify the national ranks, as well as its support for the March 10 agreement signed between the Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, and the interim government president Ahmed Al-Shar’, calling for the speedy implementation of its provisions to build a modern Syria based on participation.

She also called for convening a comprehensive, inclusive, just, and non-exclusionary Syrian national conference to rebuild the political phase, saying: "The Syria we dream of is not built on war and revenge, but on national reconciliation, transitional justice, inclusive participation, and equality among all components."

Women’s Council

The speech of the Syrian Women’s Council in North and East Syria was delivered by Amina Omar, who focused on the war and conflicts Syria has witnessed, the escalation of hate speech, the fueling of social tensions, and sectarian incitement.

She affirmed that Syrian women faced high levels of repression and marginalization but now suffer from exclusion and marginalization from decision-making.

She explained that women are partners in building Syria’s future and said: "The gains achieved by women in North and East Syria are gains for Syrian women. We confirm that a decentralized Syria, women’s participation in the political process, and confronting hate speech will be the path to building the Syria everyone wishes for."
