Sheikh Baqi confirms Turkish contradiction: talk of peace, continuation of the war on Kurds

While the Turkish Justice and Development Party authorities claim to seek peace, their officials make statements characterized by hatred towards the Kurds, and continue their political genocide campaigns against the Kurds in northern Kurdistan, and therefore these events on the Kurdish scene are being evaluated in detail.

In this context, ANHA's agency conducted an interview with the Secretary-General of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party, Jamal Sheikh Baqi, who evaluated these developments.

The history of the Kurdish people is full of being deceived

At the beginning of his speech, Jamal Sheikh Baqi touched on the claims of the AKP authorities that they seek peace, and the political genocide campaigns they are pursuing against the Kurds in Northern Kurdistan, saying: "The recent attempts by some parties affiliated with the Turkish state regarding any agreements are false. If they were true, some of the differences would not have appeared, and the Turkish state has ambitions behind them."

He pointed out that the Kurdistan Workers' Party is a long-standing party with political experiences for many years, and therefore he does not believe that it will be deceived by such statements or attempts, especially since the history of the Kurdish people is full of deception by the Turkish state and others in the four parts of Kurdistan, and he said: "The Kurdish liberation movement is not deceived in this way."

Turkey faces crises and seeks to prevent the Kurds from benefiting from developments in the Middle East Sheikh Baqi pointed out that the Turkish occupation state, through its recent attempts to reach an agreement, seeks to form an obstacle to the gains of the liberation movement that has drawn the attention of the entire world to the issue of the Kurdish people in Kurdistan and the world, and he said: "It fears that the Kurdish movements will benefit in the future from any change in the Middle East, and that is why it is trying to attract them, but in the end, these are false ambitions and policies."

He added: "On the other hand, the Justice and Development Party and the Nationalist Movement government are facing an internal political crisis in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey, where their lies and support for terrorist movements have been exposed to the world. Turkish President Erdogan is trying to make changes to the Turkish constitution to extend his electoral term in Turkey, and this will only happen through the majority in parliament, and for this reason he aspires to help the Peoples' Democracy and Equality Party in this. The Turkish state and its president Erdogan are not serious about peace agreements." No agreement can be discussed without the physical freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan

Regarding the meetings that take place with Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the policy of the Turkish Justice and Development Party authorities, Jamal Sheikh Baqi said: “The Turkish state cannot ask Leader Abdullah Ocalan for any decision or agreement without achieving his physical freedom so that he can address his masses directly and freely. The Turkish state asks the leader to address the Kurdistan Workers’ Party to lay down his weapons and dissolve the party so that it can think about the future of the Turkish Kurdish brotherhood. There is no such thing in politics. The presence of weapons in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey is due to the lack of democracy there and the disregard for the rights of the Kurdish people.”

Sheikh Baqi referred to the statements of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, which were conveyed by the HDP delegation, in which he said that if the conditions were available, he would transform the situation from war into a political and legal situation for the Kurdish people. He said: “This means that if the conditions are not available for Leader Abdullah Ocalan to meet with his comrades and reach a solution together, he cannot reach any decision while he has been imprisoned in the Turkish state’s prisons for 26 years. I do not think that Leader Abdullah Ocalan will make any decision without the appropriate conditions being available for him and for him to meet with his comrades in the party and make a decision together.”

Are these steps for peace?

Sheikh Baqi asked: The Turkish state arrests Kurdish journalists and hundreds of citizens every day on charges of membership in the Kurdistan Workers' Party and imposes guardianship over the municipalities of North Kurdistan. Are these the steps of the Turkish state for peace?

He added: "The talk about peace steps comes after more than 40 years of wars. Turkey must clarify its intentions towards it. It talks about a peace process while threatening to end the Kurdistan Workers' Party and launching attacks on North and East Syria under this pretext. As everyone knows, the Syrian Democratic Forces are legitimate forces from all components of the region, and that the Turkish state's war is with the Kurdistan Workers' Party, so with whom will the peace agreement be concluded? This shows the Turkish state's bad intentions towards the stage."

The Secretary-General of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Party, Jamal Sheikh Baqi, concluded his speech by saying: “The Kurdish people are a united people who support each other all over the world, in North and East Syria and Northern Kurdistan, and they cannot be divided. The Turkish president is trying to be the successor of the Ottoman state and creates arguments to achieve it, so I do not think that there will be a peace process in Northern Kurdistan, and I also do not think that the Turkish state will eliminate the Kurdish people and their legitimate cause. The Turkish state has no way but to agree with the Kurdistan Liberation Movement.”
