Serêkaniyê IDPs protest against occupation
Displaced people from Serêkaniyê demonstrated in the Washo Kani and Serêkaniyê camps, coinciding with the approach of the fifth anniversary of the occupation of their city by the Turkish occupation state, and confirmed the continuation of the struggle and resistance until the expulsion of the occupiers and the return to their homes.
Coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the occupation of the city of Serêkaniyê by the Turkish occupation, the displaced people of Serêkaniyê demonstrated today in the Washo Kani and Serêkaniyê camps.
The demonstration began in Washo Kani camp, located 12 km west of the city of al-Hasakah, in front of the Washo Kani camp school, with chanting slogans denouncing the Turkish occupation, and carrying banners that read "Our struggle continues until a safe return, no to the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries."
Upon reaching the entrance to Washo Kani camp, the participants observed a minute of silence, followed by a speech on behalf of the Kongra Star by member Nour Othman, who said: "The attack of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries on the city of Serêkaniyê and Gire Spi on October 9 was not a coincidence, but rather a conspiracy that was a continuation of the conspiracy that was hatched against Leader Abdullah Ocalan."
Nour Othman added: "Thanks to the thought and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, and our fighters on the battlefronts, we were able to stand up to all the practices of the Turkish occupation."
For his part, teacher Ibrahim Khalil said on behalf of the displaced people of Serêkaniyê: "In the coming days, we will witness the fifth anniversary of the occupation of the cities of Serêkaniyê and Gire Spi by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries, in front of the eyes of the entire world."
Ibrahim Khalil explained that the indigenous people of the cities of Serêkaniyê and Gire Spi were forcibly displaced from their lands, and continued by saying: "The displaced people suffer from difficult humanitarian conditions in the camps."
At the end of his speech, teacher Ibrahim Khalil called on the international community, on behalf of the displaced people of Serêkaniyê, to pressure the Turkish occupation state to leave the cities it forcibly occupied.
The demonstration in Washo Kani camp concluded with chanting slogans denouncing the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and demanding their return to their city.
The demonstration in Serêkaniyê camp, located east of Hasakah city, began from the entrance to the camp.
The participants in the Serêkaniyê camp demonstration raised banners reading "We demand a safe return to our city, no to the occupation of city Serêkaniyê," and slogans denouncing the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries.
Upon the demonstrators' arrival at the Serêkaniyê camp square, they stood a minute of silence, followed by a speech on behalf of the Martyrs' Families Council, delivered by member Bashar Khasho, who said: "Today we commemorate the fifth anniversary of the occupation of our city of Serêkaniyê, and this anniversary has become a wound that will not go away from our lives until we return to our lands."
Bashar Khasho noted that the capitalist and global powers are conspiring against humanity with the aim of crushing freedom and depriving it from all the peoples of the Middle East.
At the end of his speech, he called on the international community and human rights organizations to end the occupation of the city of Serêkaniyê and expel the occupier from every inch of Syria.
On her part, on behalf of the Star Conference, a member of the Kongra Star Committee in the Serêkaniyê camp, Ibtihal Hamoud, said: "The fifth anniversary of the occupation of the cities of Serêkaniyê and Gire Spi by Turkish fascism and terrorist groups and their mercenaries is passing, amid the suffering of the displaced people of the two cities without humanitarian solutions to end the occupation."
Ibtihal Hamoud explained that "the Turkish occupation has caused the displacement of more than 200,000 civilians and the fall of hundreds of civilian victims, in addition to committing many violations and crimes against defenseless civilians, including kidnapping, looting, killing, burning and destroying holy places.
