SDC discusses implementation of January 29 Agreement, stresses need to strengthen political coordination

Today, the SDC Co-presidency held a meeting with member political parties to review the political situation in Syria and the region, and to examine ongoing developments and their impact on the national landscape, underscoring the importance of unified positions during this sensitive period.

SDC Co-Chair Leyla Qaraman delivered a briefing on the general situation and the challenges facing the region, addressing the repercussions of the ongoing war and its potential consequences, as well as the political and security obligations it imposes, requiring reinforcement of internal unity and consolidation of national stability.

The meeting reviewed the provisions of the agreement signed on January 29 between the SDF and the Syrian Interim Government. Attendees stressed the necessity of fully implementing the agreement as a gateway to achieving stability and peace, and to ensuring the participation of all Syrian components in the political process. They also highlighted the importance of accelerating the prisoner exchange process, clarifying the fate of detainees, and applying the agreed-upon exchange mechanism.

Discussions further addressed the integration process stipulated in the agreement, noting that its success represents a fundamental step toward building a new Syria based on national partnership. The integration of administrative institutions with the government was described as a necessary entitlement requiring responsible cooperation among various political forces.

Participants affirmed that the SDC’s project is founded on consolidating the concept of a decentralized democratic national state, strengthening partnership among components, and launching a comprehensive Syrian-Syrian dialogue leading to a sustainable political solution that guarantees equal rights for all Syrians within the framework of the country’s unity.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on rejecting hate speech, maintaining strong relations among Syrian components, and preparing a program for the upcoming period, including the formation of specialized committees to develop organizational and political work in line with the requirements of the current stage.
