K Star urges women to participate strongly in March 8th events

Jiyan Hussein; the member of the Kongra Star Coordination, spoke to ANHA agency about the importance of participating in the events held in Rojava to commemorate the International Women's Day on March 8th.

Hussein explained that due to the significant difficulties faced by the Rojava region as a result of the attacks, March 8th celebrations of this year would be different from previous years. She continued, "For 14 years, women from all backgrounds have been struggling to obtain and protect their rights, and through this struggle, they have achieved significant gains in the political, military, economic, and cultural spheres."

She added, "To protect our current achievements, we must intensify our struggle. We must be better in our positions and establish our society."

Jiyan Hussein also emphasized the importance of the Women's Protection Units (YPJ), noting that since their establishment, these units have had played a fundamental role in protecting women's presence in the military sphere, while simultaneously protecting the land and the people.

She pointed out that the Syrian Interim Government does not recognize women's identity and existence, affirming that they would continue their struggle against the government's mentality.

She explained that this struggle aimed to build a democratic Syria that protects the rights of all its components and ensures the inclusion of women's rights in the new Syrian constitution.

Jiyan Hussein concluded by calling on all women in different regions, especially in Rojava, to participate in the events, raise their voices, and demonstrate their strength in the public sphere, demanding recognition of women's rights and strengthening the activities of March 8th through this demand.
