SDC condemns the Damascus bombings and calls for a transparent investigation.

The Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) condemned today the bombings that targeted the vicinity of the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus, coinciding with the visit of French President Emmanuel Macron, describing them as a "terrorist act" targeting the security of citizens and the stability of the country.

In a statement, the SDC said, "This terrorist act represents an attack on the security of citizens and the stability of the country, and an attempt to undermine efforts aimed at establishing security and peace in Syria."

It added that "the timing of the attack, which coincided with French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Damascus, raises serious concerns about the perpetrators' attempts to undermine the atmosphere of political and diplomatic openness," noting that "determining the motives or those responsible remains the responsibility of the official investigations."

The Council affirmed that "targeting security and stability, or attempting to influence diplomatic visits aimed at supporting Syria, will only serve the forces seeking to keep the country in a cycle of violence and chaos."

It called for "a transparent and comprehensive investigation to uncover the circumstances of this terrorist act and hold those responsible accountable according to the law," reiterating its support for all regional and international efforts aimed at strengthening security and stability in Syria.
