SDC co-chair: NE, People struggle renews Kawa al-Haddad resistance

The speech of the co-chair of the Syrian Democratic Council, Leila Qaraman, came at the Newroz celebration in Al-Hasakah in the North and East Syria.

At the beginning of her speech, Leila Qaraman congratulated the entire Syrian people on the occasion of Newroz, and saluted the people of North and East Syria, the mothers of the martyrs, and all the Kurdistan people.

Leila Karaman emphasized that Newroz is a day of resistance, freedom and renewal, and said: “Resistance escalates in Newroz, which carries within it great meanings. Newroz is the renewal of the resistance that Kawa al-Haddad, then Mazloum Dogan carried the torch, and Sama Yuga kindled it to struggle for the Kurdish people.”

She praised the struggle of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement, which has been going on for 51 years, and said: “A struggle full of freedom and dignity that inspired the people of the region.”

Leila noted that Newroz this year carries the slogan of freedom for leader Abdullah Ocalan and the solution to the Kurdish issue, and said: “It is time for freedom, it is time to find a solution to the Kurdish issue, it is time for peoples to extend their hands to each other,” stressing that “our struggle continues despite attempts to some dominant and capitalist countries extinguished the flame of Newroz.”

The components, the Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Syriacs, Armenians, Turkmens and Yazidis, called for strengthening their organization in the face of conspiracies, occupation and escalation of the struggle.

Regarding the situation of North and East Syria, Leila Qaraman explained: “The region is facing a fateful stage. The attacks of the occupiers could increase further, as we are exposed to greater risks, and here we must highlight our position by standing up to them and fighting for freedom.”

She indicated that the Turkish occupation army is brutally attacking the region to end the model of Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East  Syria, and said: “They want to defeat this model, eliminate agreements between peoples, and eliminate the Kurdish people.”

She stressed that the Autonomous Administration model can become an example of a solution in Syria, and that their slogan in the Syrian Democratic Council is the union of the Syrian people, and the building of a democratic, pluralistic, decentralized Syria.
