Sara Organization condemns violence against women in Latakia, Tartous
The Sara Organization for Combating Violence Against Women has condemned the serious violations women face, especially in areas controlled by the Damascus authorities, calling on the relevant parties, human rights organizations, and international bodies to take urgent action to stop these crimes and hold the perpetrators accountable.

Zeinab Aliko, a member of the Sara Organization for Combating Violence Against Women, delivered a statement in front of the organization’s center located in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, in the presence of dozens of women, as well as members and representatives of political parties and civil institutions.
The statement emphasized that gender-based violence is one of the most widespread human rights violations in society, describing it as a serious and catastrophic problem that affects not only women but the entire community.
It pointed to the escalating violence against women, especially with the spread of “extremist groups” that commit the most heinous crimes such as killing, kidnapping, and sexual assault, without regard to race or religion, exacerbating the suffering of women in many parts of Syria.
The statement highlighted three horrific crimes that occurred in the past two days against women in Jableh, Latakia, and Tartous — named Aisha, Ghufran, and Ghalia — who were subjected to murder, kidnapping, beating, and verbal abuse with sectarian and hateful language.
The organization warned that the continued silence of the Damascus authorities and the failure to hold perpetrators accountable will lead to more violations and possibly more violent crimes against women in the future, stressing that these practices are neither the first nor will they be the last unless deterrent steps are taken.
In conclusion, the Sara Organization affirmed its solidarity with all women’s organizations and raised its voice in a unified call to all human rights and international bodies, urging them to hold perpetrators accountable and protect women from all forms of violations.
