Recommendations for implementing co-presidency model across Syria

 The Kongra Star held a special conference in Hasakah titled "Co-Presidency," attended by approximately 350 representatives of women's, political, and military organizations, as well as members of the institutions of the Democratic Autonomous Administration in al- Jazira Canton.

This conference is part of the Kongra Star 's ongoing efforts to discuss and develop the "co-presidency" system, which is one of the fundamental principles of the Autonomous Administration project and has been adopted by the peoples of the region since the launch of the July 19 Revolution (Rojava Revolution).

The program included a reading of the Kurdistan Women's System's instructions by Alaa Hamdish, a member of the Star Conference Coordination in Hasakah. She explained the duties of the co-chairs, the importance of adhering to confidentiality, controlling administrative performance, and guaranteeing rights.

A council was then formed, composed of members of the Star Conference Coordination, Jian Hussein and Berivan Khaled, and Alaa Hamdish, a member of the Kongra Star Coordination in Hasakah.

After a minute of silence, Natwi Gamkin, spokesperson for the Women's Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), delivered a speech addressing the political situation at the regional and international levels, emphasizing that women's experience in North and East Syria is unique in its equal representation in the institutions of the Autonomous Administration.

Natwi Gamkin said, "The co-chair system is not merely an administrative organization, but rather a political and societal project aimed at restoring gender balance and activating the role of women in management and decision-making positions after decades of marginalization and exclusion."

During the discussions that took place during the conference, attendees emphasized the importance of strengthening the role of joint leadership in civilian and military institutions and expanding the implementation of this system throughout Syria, with a focus on developing working mechanisms and moving away from patriarchal and authoritarian mentalities.

The conference participants reached several recommendations, most notably:

· Intensifying training courses for joint leadership in institutions.

· Organizing weekly lectures within the Autonomous Administration's institutions to explain the concept of joint leadership.

· Expanding the implementation of the system to include all regions of Syria.

· Focusing on mechanisms to ensure equality and equal representation in decision-making positions.
