PYD: It is very important for Kurds to participate in transitional phase to establish new Syria

Today, the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party commented on the recent statements of the leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham regarding the Kurds, and explained in a statement: “We followed with interest the statement of the leader of Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, Mr. Ahmed al-Sharaa, regarding the Kurds and the Kurdish issue, where he said: “The Kurds are part of 

the homeland and partners in future Syria, he also stressed the return of the forcibly displaced people from occupied Afrin to their areas. “We, as the Democratic Union Party, appreciate and welcome these statements, and see them as positive and constructive.”

The statement explained that the Kurds suffered from the policy of denial and marginalization practiced by the arbitrary Baath regime, and said: “It is time for the Kurds to become partners in building Syria and for their rights to be guaranteed.”

The statement stressed that the Kurds were, during the revolution, the safety valve and the basic force that preserved the unity of the Syrian lands and the common social and cultural fabric of the Syrians. The statement noted "the importance of the Kurds' participation in this transitional phase to establish a new Syria. In order to achieve this, there is a need for direct dialogue with the Kurdish component to discuss a joint road map. To achieve this, we call for declaring a ceasefire that includes all Syrian regions, and stopping attacks on NE  Syria, and holding a Syrian national meeting that includes all components to develop a joint action plan.”
