Protests in Tehran over continued executions

Today, a number of families of female detainees in Qezelhesar Prison in Karaj gathered in front of the Iranian parliament in Tehran to protest the continued implementation of death sentences. Security forces used violence to disperse the protesters, according to Roj News Agency.

According to the Voice of Kurdish and Iranian Detainees website, the families of those sentenced to death in Qezelhesar Prison organized a protest in front of the Iranian parliament, expressing their rejection of the policy of mass executions and demanding an immediate halt to the executions and annulment of the sentences.

Sources told the agency that Iranian security forces and police violently confronted the protesters, assaulting them to disperse them, injuring several women. Despite this, the families bravely continued their protest, refusing to leave the area.

Reports also confirmed that Iranian authorities arrested a number of protesters during the clashes that accompanied the gathering.

It is worth noting that on October 15, approximately 1,500 detainees sentenced to death in Qezel Hesar Prison announced an open-ended hunger strike to protest the execution of their comrades. In the past few days alone, 17 people have been executed in the same prison, sparking widespread anger inside and outside the prison.

This comes amid an escalation in Iranian authorities' campaign of arrests and executions against Kurdish citizens in various cities in Eastern Kurdistan. Authorities have arrested four people and executed three other detainees by hanging.

Between October 11 and 16, security forces arrested Mohammad Dadras from the village of Sardush in Marivan; Hassan Faraji, a faculty member at Marivan's Azad University; civil activist Azad Haji Mirzaei from the city of Saneh; and Jafar Sadeghi from the city of Sheno in Urmia Province. They were all arrested without judicial warrants. All three were transferred to unknown locations, and their fate remains unknown.

On October 15, 2025, Iranian authorities executed three Kurdish prisoners by hanging in Qezelhesar Prison in Karaj: Amir Reza Ghobadi, Majid Hatami, and Sajjad Hatami, according to the Iranian judiciary.
