The Syrian Transitional Government forces are tightening their noose on the residents of villages west of Deir Hafer. They recently erected earthen berms between villages located on the front lines with the Syrian Democratic Forces, leading to tensions between residents and the implementing forces.

The vicinity of Deir Hafer in the Tabqa canton has witnessed escalating tensions between residents and the Syrian Transitional Government forces. This is a result of the Transitional Government forces completely erecting the earthen berms along the front lines. This has sparked discontent among residents of the surrounding villages, particularly in the village of Shuwailikh, where quarrels and stone-throwing incidents broke out between residents and some members of the forces.

According to an informed source with ANHA agency, the villages west of Deir Hafer are suffering from harassment by the Syrian Transitional Government forces, including obstructions to their movement.

Residents of villages under the control of the transitional government forces rely on daily commuting to Deir Hafer city by bicycle and car to purchase basic necessities, as well as to plow their lands and harvest their crops. This has made the construction of the barriers a direct obstacle to their daily lives.

Residents fear that these measures will further restrict their movement and exacerbate tensions in the area, given the lack of official clarification regarding the reasons for the construction of the barriers or the expected duration of their stay.
