Protesters against Turkish attacks on Tishreen Dam: We are pacifists
The protesters stand on the Tishreen Dam with a firm will, amid the roar of the Turkish occupation planes and their continuous bombardment, stressing that the dam belongs to all Syrians, and no one has the right to target it.
The people of NE Syria from all components continue their support for the Syrian Democratic Forces and the Women's Protection Units, rejecting, through their continuous protest against the Tishreen Dam, that Syria is an arena for conflict that serves foreign agendas
Fatima Khalil, spokeswoman for the PYD's Women's Council in Raqqa, who is participating in the protests for the fourth time, said: "The Tishreen Dam is located deep inside Syria, and it belongs to all Syrians, not just the people of NE Syria. The Turkish occupation targets the dam and our region under flimsy pretexts, claiming to protect its national security."
Fatima added: "We are here in the spirit of the revolutionary popular war, protecting our areas and gains from the targets of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries. The Tishreen Dam is a vital facility that provides water and electricity to the Syrian regions, so by what right is the occupation trying to destroy it?"
"No matter how much Erdogan and his state try to target us, we are a people with a strong will who will remain steadfast until victory is achieved for all our regions, from NE Syria to the Syrian interior."
Ahmed al-Samamo, from the city of Tal Abyad, occupied by Turkey and its mercenaries, and a participant in the protests, said: "We came from all components - Kurds, Arabs, Armenians and Turkmens - to the Martyrs' Dam, the Resistance Dam. This dam proved to the world that it is a symbol of resistance against the mercenaries of the Turkish occupation."
Ahmed sent a message to Syrians fighting in the ranks of mercenaries: "We are brothers, so why are we fighting each other? Is it for the sake of Turkey's so-called national security? We are here as civilians to prove to the world that we are with the SDF until victory."
Since the eighth of January, the people of NE Syria have continued to protest against the Tishreen Dam, stressing that they will not abandon the dam, which they consider a line of defense for the future of Syria and the lives of millions of Syrians who depend on it for water and electricity.
