Protest in Sweida demands fate of missing detainees

A solidarity protest was held today in the city of Shahba in Sweida, demanding the disclosure of the fate of detainees and forcibly disappeared individuals, after ten and a half months had passed without any information regarding their whereabouts or condition.

Participants in the protest stated that 120 names are believed to be held in Adra Prison under the Syrian interim government, including 29 elderly detainees, amid growing calls to reveal their health and humanitarian conditions and secure their release.

Protesters also pointed to the continued kidnappings in the region, including the recent abduction of an entire family from the Al-Zein Al-Din family, among them an infant child, sparking widespread concern and anger among residents.

Families gathered at Shahba Amphitheater carrying photos of their detained and missing relatives, stressing that they will continue their peaceful movements until the fate of their loved ones is revealed.

The participants called on humanitarian organizations and relevant authorities to intervene urgently, find solutions, uncover the fate of the missing and detained individuals, and put an end to the kidnappings and enforced disappearances taking place in the area.
