Today, the Mesopotamia Relief and Development Association, in coordination with the Social Affairs and Labor Body of the Autonomous Administration, is dispatching the second convoy of the humanitarian aid campaign toward the Syrian coastal regions, departing from the cities of Qamishlo and Hasaka.

The aid convoy consists of 1,500 baskets containing food supplies.

The convoy is scheduled to gather, alongside additional aid from other parts of the region, in the Raqqa canton, from where it will head to the Syrian coast to distribute the aid to those in need.

This is considered the third such batch. One convoy reached its destination, while the second was blocked from passing by Damascus authorities.

In mid-March, as part of grassroots initiatives in the North and East Syria region and with the participation of the Kurdish Red Crescent and the Autonomous Administration, a convoy carrying tons of humanitarian aid was sent to the coastal region as the first batch.

That convoy, coming from Qamishlo, Hasaka, and Raqqa, reached Latakia and was distributed to residents of the Syrian coast. It included 6,000 food baskets, 2,500 cleaning supply baskets, and 350 tons of flour.

On April 12, the people of North and East Syria sent a second humanitarian aid convoy to affected and needy families in the coastal area, under the supervision of the Autonomous Administration and the Kurdish Red Crescent.

This convoy included 13,500 aid baskets, consisting of 11,000 food baskets and 2,500 baskets containing medical products and cleaning supplies.

However, the second batch was prevented from crossing by checkpoints controlled by Damascus authorities in the areas under their control, after the convoy had left the Autonomous Administration territories.

The Syrian coast witnessed tragic events and massacres between March 7 and 10, during which 1,676 people were killed, according to verified statistics from the Syrian Observatory.
