Displaced people from Serê Kaniyê/Ras al-Ayn are preparing to return to their villages and towns, as they began packing their belongings today, Sunday, ahead of their departure tomorrow, Monday, as part of the third convoy heading toward their areas in the southern countryside of the city.

The convoy includes more than 500 displaced families residing at Washokani Camp and in temporary shelters. The returning families are scheduled to head to villages and towns south of Serê Kaniyê/Ras al-Ayn.

The move comes as part of ongoing efforts to facilitate the return of displaced people to their areas after years of displacement.

The second convoy of displaced people from Serê Kaniyê, who had been residing at Serê Kaniyê Camp in Hasakah, included around 700 families, or nearly 7,000 people. They returned on September 8 to around 55 villages in the city’s countryside, Zerkan and Tal Tamr.

The first convoy returned on August 10, carrying around 410 families to the southern countryside of Serê Kaniyê, as part of efforts to return displaced people to their areas and villages.
