On the occasion of the anniversary of the international conspiracy on February 15, the Executive Committee of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) issued a written statement:

“For 26 years, under the leadership of Leader Apo, our liberation movement, our national people, and our democratic friends have been waging a heroic resistance against the February 15 conspiracy targeting our leader. As a result of this historic resistance, which continues under the slogan 'You Cannot Obscure Our Sun,' more than 30 of our comrades have been martyred. This ongoing resistance, following in the footsteps of the martyrs, has thwarted the international conspiracy in all its forms, as well as the system of torture, isolation, and extermination in Imrali.

It is very clear that, on the 26th anniversary of the conspiracy, a historic light will emerge to overcome darkness and pave the way for freedoms. We hope and believe that a historic development will occur, leading to a democratic transformation for all.

Apologize to the Kurdish people

We strongly condemn the international conspiracy attacks of October 9, 1998, and February 15, 1999, as well as all forces that orchestrated and supported this conspiracy. We call on these forces to critically reassess and change their dark, oppressive, and authoritarian political structures and to apologize to the Kurdish people for their actions over the past 26 years. They must not obstruct the Kurdish people's right to a free and democratic life.

We salute the great struggle for humanity and freedom led by our movement, our national people, and our democratic friends with courage and heroism for 26 years against the conspiracy and the Imrali system under the leadership of leader Abdullah Ocalan. We honor with deep respect and gratitude all the martyrs of this historic resistance, especially the first martyr of the self-sacrificial resistance carrying the slogan 'You Cannot Obscure Our Sun,' Khalid Oral and Aynur Artan.

We renew our pledge to fully defeat the conspiracy in its 27th year and to carry out successful actions to ensure the freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan. We wish victory to all those engaged in the struggle for freedom and democracy.

This attack, embodied in the international conspiracy within the framework of the Third World War, was organized and led by the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel. It relied on all state and power systems and was not solely aimed at the PKK and the Kurdish people. At the same time, it targeted not only the peoples of Turkey but all the peoples of the Middle East and humanity as a whole. It was an attack by the system of capitalist modernity, which sought to deny and eliminate the Kurdish people.

In connection with this, what is referred to as the 'Kurdish issue' is fundamentally based on a system and mindset of extermination against the Kurdish people. The obstruction of a solution to this issue and the ongoing genocide against the Kurdish people have been driven by economic and political gains.

Concrete outcomes of 26 years of struggle

The struggle against the international conspiracy attack was not only a fight for the existence and freedom of the Kurdish people but also a fight to strengthen the unity of Middle Eastern peoples and the global democratic movement. In short, all those who fought for Leader Apo’s physical freedom and a solution to the Kurdish issue were, in reality, fighting for their own freedom and a democratic governance model.

Now, on the 26th anniversary, this historic resistance is yielding tangible and lasting results. Over 26 years of struggle against the international conspiracy and the system of extermination and torture, Leader Apo has set an exemplary transformation through this great resistance. He has shown all oppressed peoples the path to freedom by developing an ecological model based on a democratic society and women's liberation. He has illuminated our era and become a leader for all oppressed peoples, defining women's freedom, free life, and a democratic society, and developing the path of democratic civilization against state civilization.

Today, this approach, which upholds the slogan 'Women, Life, Freedom,' represents the true path to freedom and democracy for all oppressed peoples, led by the uprising of women. There is no doubt that the international conspiracy was the most unjust, cruel, and brutal attack. However, over the past 26 years, under the leadership of Leader Apo, our liberation movement, our national people, and our friends have waged a legitimate, real, and meaningful struggle for freedom. During this historic resistance, the Kurdish people and their friends have sacrificed over 30,000 martyrs, in addition to enduring arrests, torture, and other sufferings. In other words, nothing was achieved without sacrifices, effort, and struggle. Everything was accomplished through great effort and resistance. This resistance exposed the mindset, policies, extermination system, occupation, and fascism that created the Kurdish issue. Reactionary groups like ISIS were defeated. The Middle East, which the system of capitalist modernity sought to obscure, was illuminated. As an alternative, the coexistence of democratic modernity in the Middle East was developed. On this basis, women, who suffered the most violent forms of male domination, ignited the Women's Liberation Revolution.

Leader Abdullah Ocalan will initiate a new phase of reconstruction again

Now, on this 26th anniversary, and as a result of this great resistance led by the Leader, our people, and our friends, it is evident that new developments will occur. Due to this great 26-year resistance and the impact of the Third World War in the Middle East, the international conspiracy and the Imrali system of isolation, torture, and extermination have been exposed, foiled, and destroyed. These unjust, cruel, and brutal systems and attacks are now being overcome. No one upholds the aforementioned system anymore, and its architects can no longer escape its burdens. On this 26th anniversary, the world, led by the peoples of Kurdistan and Turkey, awaits the reemergence of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and a new beginning.

It seems that unless a major crisis or coup attempt occurs, Leader Abdullah Ocalan will initiate a new process, a process of transformation and reconstruction for everyone. The PKK and the Kurdish people will change. The Republic of Turkey will change. The Middle East and the world as a whole will change. The state should not fear. Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Kurdish people will not destroy the state; rather, they will rebuild it transparently based on democracy. Turkish society should not be afraid. Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the Kurdish people will not divide Turkey; instead, they will work to establish democracy in Turkey, relying on Kurdish freedom. Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s and the Kurdish people’s efforts for freedom and democracy will not be directed against anyone in the Middle East or the world; rather, the democratic interests of all will be considered.

Clearly, with Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s expected statement, a new phase will begin. Of course, not everything will be achieved through a declaration, nor will everything be achieved solely by the Leader. Just as the problem concerns us all, the responsibility lies with all of us. Everyone must understand their duties and responsibilities in this new phase and embrace and implement them in reality. This new phase will not be realized through mere wishes and demands but rather through smarter, more organized struggle and action.

Accordingly, we call on all our people, especially women and youth, democratic forces in Turkey, and all our democratic friends to follow Leader Abdullah Ocalan closely, understand him correctly, and take on their responsibilities more strongly in this new phase. We also renew our call to take to the streets and squares on this 26th anniversary, strongly condemn the February 15 conspiracy, and turn February 15 from a day of genocide against the Kurdish people into a true day of freedom!

Curse the international conspiracy and the extermination system in Imrali.

Long live Leader Apo!"
