Petition campaign demands captives' release and missing fate's reveal

The Committee for Relations and Democratic Political Agreements at the Kongra Star is preparing to launch a petition campaign demanding the release of captives held by the Syrian Interim Government and the disclosure of the fate of the missing.

Between January 6 and 29, 2026, factions of the Syrian Interim Government, supported by the Turkish occupation state, launched attacks against the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, as well as Deir Hafer, Tabqa, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor. During these attacks, many people were captured, and many others went missing.

Recently, Mazloum Abdi; the commander-in-chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), announced in a meeting held with families of captives that the number of captives, including both military personnel and civilians, had reached 1,070.

Accordingly, the Committee for Relations and Democratic Political Agreements of the Kongra Star will launch a petition campaign to secure the release of these captives and determine the fate of the missing.

According to the information obtained by ANHA agency, a letter will be prepared in Kurdish, Arabic, and English and sent to women's, human rights, political, and social organizations, as well as prominent figures inside and outside Syria, with the aim of gathering signatures. Signatures will also be collected from the people of Rojava.

This campaign is scheduled to launch in the next few days.
