Kobani residents: We do not recognize those who do not recognize our will

The residents of Kobani city organized a protest at the Free Woman Square, rejecting appointments imposed by the Syrian Interim Government against the will of the people to administer the city. They chanted the slogan: "Those who do not recognize our will, we do not recognize."

The protest began with holding a minute of silence, after which Kilo Hussein; the co-chair of the Kobani City Council, spoke on behalf of the city's residents, saying: "We do not accept the appointment of anyone from outside Kobani. We want those appointed to Kobani to be from among its own people and communities, and to have played a part in the resistance and struggle of Kobani. We condemn the appointment of Ibrahim Muslim, announced by the Interim Government, to administer Kobani."

Kilo Hussein added: "We will draw our strength from our martyrs, and we will never accept this. With our strength and resistance, we will protect our gains, and those who administer Kobani must be from among its own people and components."

The protest concluded with chants of "Long live the resistance of Kobani."
