NRLS's meeting calls immigrants to return, develop their regions

The forum, organized by the Rojava Center for Strategic Studies (NRLS), continues under the title “Migration and Displacement in North and East Syria: Causes - Consequences - Proposals - Actions,” with the participation of one hundred people representing Kurdish, Syriac, and Arab parties, women’s and Kurdish organizations, and research institutions, at the Muhammad Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in the city of Qamishlo.

After delivering the speeches, a TV show was shown about Migration and Displacement in NE Syria, then a spot entitled “No to Migration” during which dozens of people participated, each in their own language to express their attachment to their land.

The forum activities moderated by the member of the Executive Body of the Kurdistan National Congress, Akram Heso from the Syriac component, Sabah Shabo, from the Islamic community, Sheikh Muhammad al-Qadiri, and from the Yazidi community, Farouk Tozo, along with the displaced person who was subjected to a chemical attack by the Turkish occupation army.

In Serekaniye Muhammad Hamid, the war-wounded Farida Omar, the mother of the martyr Hevrin Khalaf Souad Mustafa, and the displaced woman from the occupied city of Afrin, Fikret Mustafa.

During the session, Akram Hesso highlighted the importance of holding the forum in light of the Turkish occupation army’s continued attacks on NE Syria against its people, which aim to intimidate the people and displace them, and called for an end to forced displacement practiced by regimes hostile to NE Syria.

Fikret Mustafa, a woman displaced from the city of Afrin occupied by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries, who currently lives in Shahba pointed out the policies and crimes of the occupation against the city of Afrin and its people, and stressed: “We will resist all these policies until the liberation of Afrin.”

In turn, war wounded Farida Omar called on the people of NE Syria to be alert to the special war policies being pursued against them and to adhere to the approach of resistance and rally around the values of the martyrs.

 The mother of the martyr Hevrin Khalaf, Souad Mustafa stated that: “The continuous attacks on our regions aim to annihilate and she called for us to display the spirit of patriotism and not abandon the homeland,” and she said: “Their policies will not succeed as long as we stand together.”

Ongoing Ottoman genocide policy

As for Sabah Shabo, she noted that the policies that target them as a Syriac, Assyrian, or Chaldean component are no different from other components, and she explained: “The policies of Ottoman genocide continue against us with the aim of thwarting the project of coexistence and the democratic nation.”

Farouk Tozo from the Yazidi community pointed out the genocides they were subjected to over the years, which he considered “ethnic cleansing.” He explained that the Yazidis were subjected to genocides in SereKaniye, Afrin, and Shingal.

He called on all the displaced to return and participate in building the nation’s project. Democracy.

The child, Hamid Muhammad, in turn, spoke about the displacement journey he was subjected to at an early age, starting from Kobani to Afrin and then to Serekaniye, where his body was burned due to the chemical weapons used by the Turkish army.

For his part, Sheikh Muhammad Al-Qadiri  called on religious scholars to carry out their duties by calling on the community to hold on to their land.

The forum continues with the first dialogue session, which includes Migration and Displacement, its causes and effects on the region of NE Syria, and is moderated by the human rights activist and political activist, Dr. Abeer Hassaf.
