In the context of popular reactions to the attacks of the Damascus government forces and the so-called "National Defense" on the towns and villages of Deir ez-Zor countryside, a number of notables and representatives of the tribes confirmed in brief statements to ANHA agency, that they stand by the SDF.

We stand by our SDF

The representative of the Al-Akidat tribe in Jazera, Hussein al-Abraz, denounced the beginning of "the Syrian regime's attacks on Deir ez-Zor, which led to the martyrdom of 2 families from the Al-Bakara tribe due to indiscriminate shelling."

He said: "We stand with the right and with the Syrian Democratic Forces, because our forces were in the defensive stage and they were the ones who attacked us, as the Syrian regime's attacks on our areas coincided with the attacks of the Turkish occupation."

"The tribes have a history throughout the ages in values and morals, and the tribes do not commit massacres, but stand with civil peace, and the militias that attack under the name of tribes are trying to influence the region, as it is a tribal area, so we call on our youth and sons to stay away from these criminal militias that destroyed Syria, and to stand by their forces," Hussein said.

'No one can tarnish name of clans'

Hussein al-Kabsh, member of the Al-Bakara tribe, also said, "What is happening in Deir ez-Zor does not represent the tribes, but serves foreign agendas that have ambitions, and their goal is to destabilize security and stability in the region and undermine civil peace."

He pointed out that "the tribes are innocent of these acts, and we seek to achieve civil peace, and the stability of the region, and we hope for a Syrian-Syrian solution," adding that "the tribes are cohesive and known and no one can distort their image."

'They are nothing but mercenaries'

In the same context, the sheikh of the Albu Hamdan tribe, Salem Issa al-Rammo, said, "We regret what is happening in Deir ez-Zor by the National Defense and Ibrahim al-Hafil militias, who does not represent the tribes but represents himself, and we tribal elders categorically reject these attacks on our areas," adding that "those who call themselves the tribal army are nothing but mercenaries."

Issa thanked the tribes of Deir ez-Zor for their stance in support of the SDF, "We, the elders, the youth and women, stand heart and soul by our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces."
