Nine centers in Syria designated to receive applications for Kurdish citizenship restoration

The Ministry of Interior of the Syrian Interim Government announced the start of receiving applications for Syrian citizenship for those covered by the provisions of Legislative Decree No. /13/ for the year 2026, which pertains to granting citizenship to Kurds who were deprived of it. This will begin on Monday, April 6, as part of the first phase of implementing the decree.

The Ministry of Interior of the Syrian Interim Government announced the start of receiving applications for Syrian citizenship for those covered by the provisions of Legislative Decree No. 13 for the year 2026, which pertains to granting citizenship to Kurds who were deprived of it. This will commence on Monday, April 6, as part of the first phase of implementing the decree.

Applications are received thru accredited centers and committees in several regions of Syria, and the application reception centers include:

Al-Hasakah: Apply to the committees at the Al-Hasakah Local Council center.

Al-Darbasiya: Applications have been submitted to the committees within the local city council center affiliated with the Al-Darbasiya Secretariat.

Qamishli: He applied to the committees within the local council center.

Jal Agha: He applied to the committees at the local council center.

Deirk: He applied to the committees at the local council center and the Malikiya treasury.

Aleppo: Submit to the committees at the Shahbaa Sports Hall (formerly the Youth Hall) opposite the Endowments Directorate in the Al-Jamiliah neighborhood.

Deir ez-Zor: Advance to the committees at a specific center near the Central Bank in Deir ez-Zor.

Raqqa: Proceed to the committees at a designated center near the Central Bank in Raqqa.

Damascus: Head to the committees at the Civil Affairs Directorate center in Damascus, next to the Revolution Bridge.

According to the ministry, the first phase focuses on receiving applications and verifying documents and proofs in accordance with legal procedures, in preparation for completing the citizenship grant process.

It is worth mentioning that the head of the interim government in Syria, Ahmad al-Sharaa, issued Decree No. /13/ for the year 2026 on January 16, which states that Syrian Kurdish citizens are an integral part of the Syrian people, and that their cultural and linguistic identity is an inseparable part of the diverse and unified Syrian national identity.
