The Cultural Center in Sweida city hosted an expanded political dialogue conference, which included a group of representatives from the peaceful movement, political forces, civil society, internal security forces, and a number of social and religious figures. This conference took place amidst the delicate political and security circumstances facing the region and Syria in general.

It was held with the aim of unifying the political and civil stance within Sweida and developing a comprehensive vision that expresses the aspirations of the people of the province and establishes realistic solutions to the multiple crises facing the local community.

The conference was also attended by political forces, which included representatives of various civil and military forces, religious and tribal figures, and youth and university students, representing a significant segment of the civil movement. Prominent among the attendees were Prince Hassan al-Atrash, a representative of the Men of Dignity, and Officer Tariq al-Shoufi, representing the security services, along with representatives of the tribes and the Christian community.

The Sweida Youth Civil Gathering and a number of young activists also participated, presenting their vision for a more just and stable future for the people of the province, particularly with regard to the rights of university students, who face real challenges in commuting to the capital, Damascus, and pursuing their education due to the security situation and political division.

A Unified Vision and Consensus Initiatives

At the conference, the speakers emphasized the importance of striving to build a unified position that represents the political, religious, and social components of Sweida, especially in light of the growing economic and living challenges and the deepening political division in the country. Several consensual initiatives were proposed, focusing on enhancing communication between all parties and working to formulate peaceful solutions that ensure the stability of the governorate and preserve its diverse social fabric.

Extensive discussions on living and educational issues

The conference included open dialogue sessions, during which attendees exchanged views on the daily challenges facing citizens.

Practical recommendations and initiatives for dialogue with Damascus

One of the most important outcomes of the conference was the formation of a negotiating team representing all social, political, and religious components of Sweida. This team's mission was to communicate with the authorities in Damascus to guarantee the governorate's administrative and development rights and to discuss the future of the relationship between the central government and the governorate, ensuring fair representation of the population and providing radical solutions to service, educational, and economic problems.

The participants emphasized the need for the proposed delegation to be inclusive and comprehensive, not excluding any component of the local community, so that the results of the dialogue would guarantee popular and political credibility.
