Two ISIS leaders eliminated in Deir ez-Zor countryside

The International Coalition forces, with the participation of a group from the Free Syrian Army, carried out an airdrop operation targeting a position where ISIS mercenaries were holed up in the Jabal al-Bishri area, within the Syrian Badia in the western Deir ez-Zor countryside (areas under the control of Damascus government forces). The operation resulted in the deaths of several leaders, whose identities are not yet known.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, citing sources, the operation followed about a week of intensive aerial and ground surveillance of the area, based on information received about an impending meeting of prominent ISIS leaders inside the mountain.

The operation witnessed direct clashes with mercenaries, amid information indicating that coalition forces seized documents from the operation site, likely related to the mercenaries' movements and plans in the Syrian Badia.

This operation is considered one of the most significant security strikes targeting ISIS mercenaries in recent times, in an area that continues to provide a fertile environment for their activities, taking advantage of the rugged terrain and the difficulty of maintaining security control.

On May 25, international coalition forces carried out an airdrop operation, with the participation of Syrian forces working with them, east of the Homs Badia, near the administrative border with Deir ez-Zor Governorate. Clashes erupted between the coalition forces and ISIS mercenaries, resulting in the destruction of sites in the targeted area and losses among the mercenaries.

Sources added that the operation targeted a site believed to be housing ISIS mercenary cells, where a warehouse was completely destroyed.

Other sources, however, reported that the targeted site was an empty house used as a fodder storage warehouse, belonging to residents of the neighboring village of Al-Kom. They noted that the surrounding area has been inhabited since the beginning of this year.
