Mazloum Abdi: Conference will secure Kurdish people's rights in new Syria
The Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces confirmed that the call for peace by Leader Abdullah Ocalan had a direct impact on NE Syria, emphasizing that the primary goal of this conference is to guarantee the rights of the Kurdish people and all communities in the new Syria.

The proceedings of the "Conference on the Unity of the Kurdish Stance and Ranks in Rojava Kurdistan" continue at the Qamishlo Hall in Azadi Park, in the city of Qamishlo, with the attendance of over 400 figures from Rojava, North and South Kurdistan, as well as individuals from various Syrian regions. Representatives of Kurdish forces, organizations, and parties, the Kurdistan National Conference, the Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration, Evin Swed, women's and youth organizations, along with cultural, social figures, artists, tribal leaders, and Kurdish personalities from Damascus, Aleppo, Hama, al-Bab, and Azaz are also present.
The preparatory committee for the conference welcomed the attendees, after which a council was formed consisting of Ilham Ahmed, the Co-Chair of the Foreign Relations Office, Berwin Youssef, the Co-Chair of the Democratic Union Party, and Mohammed Ismail, the head of the Kurdish National Council in Syria.
During the opening, Ilham Ahmed welcomed the participants from the Kurdish forces and parties from South, North, and East Kurdistan, as well as national, cultural, artistic, social, and tribal personalities.
Ilham Ahmed stressed that the entire Kurdish people in Kurdistan have been awaiting this historic moment in the phase Kurdistan is currently going through. She said: "Rojava has reached a stage where it can discuss its rights. We have reached a point where Kurdish rights can be achieved, and this is evident through the positions of Kurdish leaders like Leader Abdullah Ocalan, Mr. Masoud Barzani, and Bafel Talabani. These Kurdish figures have supported the people of Rojava."
She added: "We are hearing the voice of our community saying, 'Unite your ranks,' and that is why we gather today in this hall to produce a document that achieves Kurdish rights."
Commander-in-Chief of the Syrian Democratic Forces, Mazloum Abdi, also welcomed the attendees in his speech, saying: "In order to protect our people and this region, we fought a fierce war and sacrificed more than 13,000 martyrs. We wish a speedy recovery to all the wounded, and we dedicate this conference to all our martyrs."
Mazloum Abdi added: "This conference was held after great efforts, meetings, and discussions with the presence of Kurdish forces," expressing thanks to the Co-Chairs of the Kurdistan Communities Union and Masoud Barzani for their support in organizing the conference.
He emphasized that Kurdish unity means Syrian unity, and that this unity forms a supporting strength for Syria as a whole. He pointed out that the new Syria needs a constitution that embraces all the Syrian people and establishes a decentralized democratic Syria.
Mazloum Abdi explained that the regions of North and East Syria have witnessed 12 years of coexistence among all communities, including Kurds, Arabs, Syriacs, and Armenians, and that they have built a significant historical legacy. He said one of their primary goals is to protect the achievements made, adding: "Our goal in the new Syria is for the new Syrian constitution to guarantee the rights of the Kurdish people."
Regarding the conference, Abdi explained: "Today, we will discuss our political program here and will issue a decision to form a joint body to engage with the new Damascus government to achieve the Kurdish people's rights."
He also drew attention to Leader Abdullah Ocalan's call for peace and democratic society, saying: "This call had a direct impact on North and East Syria and contributed to a temporary ceasefire," confirming: "We fully support this call."
Mazloum Abdi further affirmed that the Kurdish Unity Conference will lay the groundwork for holding a National Kurdistan Conference.
