Massive destruction due to Turkish occupation attacks on protesters at Tishrin Dam

For 24 days, citizens from various areas of North and East Syria have continued to gather to participate in protests at Tishrin Dam, which has been subjected to escalating attacks by the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have been responding to these attacks.

On January 8, the first convoy of civilians set out from the city of Kobani towards Tishrin Dam, located 70 km south of Kobani, in an attempt to stop the Turkish occupation state's attacks and protect the dam from collapse due to cracks caused by airstrikes.

The Turkish occupation state has committed war crimes against seven civilian convoys that have headed to the dam since January 8. Photos and videos have documented moments when civilians were targeted by drone strikes, leading to the martyrdom of 24 citizens from different areas of North and East Syria.

ANHA correspondent has documented multiple sites that were targeted at Tishrin Dam. One video shows the inside of a car, revealing the hair of the martyred citizen Heza Mohammed and her blood on the seat. She lost her life alongside her husband, Adham Mustafa Wiso, in an airstrike that targeted the second convoy of Kobani residents on November 16.

Other footage captures the location where the renowned Kurdish theater artist Bavi Tiyar was injured alongside dozens of other citizens. He succumbed to his injuries on January 19, along with five other civilians.

The Turkish occupation army's attacks on Tishrin Dam have also injured seven journalists. Additionally, three medical staff members were martyred, and three others were wounded.

Due to the direct attacks by the Turkish occupation state on civilian vehicles and medical teams, dozens of vehicles were burned and reduced to rubble.

Human Rights Watch commented on the crimes committed by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, describing them as "alleged war crimes" in North and East Syria. The organization also noted that Turkey and its mercenaries have a dire human rights record in Syria.
