Martyred leader Noureddin Sofi body heads to Qamishli

The funeral procession of the leader of the Rojava Revolution in North and East Syria, the martyr Noureddin Sofi, left Derik Hospital a short while ago, accompanied by thousands of residents of the Jazera Canton and his family, heading to the city of Qamishli.

Since this morning, thousands of people from the Jazera Canton, from all its components, tribes, and sects, have headed to Derik National Hospital to participate in transporting the body of the martyr Noureddin Sofi to the city of Qamishli.

Hundreds of residents of the cities of Girkê legê,Çil Axa, and Tirbespiyê are waiting at intersections to join the convoy that will head to participate in the ceremonies

A ceremony is scheduled to be held in the presence of thousands of people from North and East Syria, its institutions, the Democratic Autonomous Administration, and the Council of Martyrs' Families. The ceremony will be held at the March 12 Martyrs Stadium in Qamishli at 5:00 PM. The burial will then take place at the Martyr Delil Sarukhan Shrine.

The People's Defense Forces announced on August 11 that "the heroic son of the Kurdish people, the professional revolutionary, and follower of the leader Agid, the leader of the freedom revolution in Rojava and the people of North and East Syria, Noureddin Sofi, who traveled to the mountains of Kurdistan to visit his former comrades, where he spent 24 years, was martyred in an enemy attack on April 6, 2021, while visiting our headquarters, the People's Defense Center.
