SDF warns Interim Government groups over "Provocative" Moves

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces issued a statement today accusing "groups affiliated with the Damascus government" of carrying out "provocative" moves in recent days in several areas, most notably around the town of Deir Hafir and its neighboring villages, as well as the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo city.

The statement explained that these groups continue to "violate the ceasefire" through suspicious field movements, noting that the SDF has so far exercised patience and has not responded to these provocations, but it "will be forced to respond" if the attacks continue, citing the principle of legitimate self-defense.

It added that other groups have intensified their patrols in recent days around the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, with almost continuous drone flights over the area, one of which detonated on the outskirts of the neighborhood. The statement described this as a "clear violation" of the ceasefire and "contrary to the spirit of the agreement" signed between the Neighborhood Council and the Damascus government on April 1.

The statement pointed out that these moves have drawn condemnation from the residents of the two neighborhoods and pose a danger to civilian safety.

It called on the Syrian Interim Government to control these groups, prevent what it described as "unruly behavior," and maintain civil peace in Aleppo and other areas.
