Mandate of National Solidarity, Brotherhood, Democracy Committee extended

A decision was taken at the conclusion of a meeting between the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament and representatives of the political parties involved in drafting the report of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood, and Democracy Committee to reconvene the report-drafting team and extend the committee’s mandate.

The meeting, held between the Speaker of Parliament and the committee, Numan Kurtulmuş, and representatives of the political parties concerned with drafting the committee’s report, concluded with the participation of Cengiz Çiçek, Istanbul MP for the People’s Equality and Democracy Party (DEM); Feti Yıldız, Deputy Chair of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP); Murat Emir, Deputy Chair of the Republican People’s Party (CHP); Bülent Kaya, Head of the New Path parliamentary group; and Abdulhamit Gül, Head of the Justice and Development Party parliamentary group.

After the meeting, which lasted more than an hour, representatives of the political parties answered journalists’ questions. In this context, Murat Emir, Deputy Chair of the CHP, stated that Speaker of Parliament Numan Kurtulmuş would issue a written statement regarding the meeting.

Feti Yıldız, Deputy Chair of the MHP, provided information on the content of the meeting, noting that it was positive and that the report-drafting team would meet again on Wednesday at 14:00.

Extension of the Committee’s Mandate

Yıldız added that the committee’s working period would be extended, and that a meeting on this matter could be held on Thursday.
