Macron and Barzani call for immediate de-escalation in Syria

French President Emmanuel Macron and the President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, called during a phone conversation today for the “immediate containment of the escalation” in Syria and for “agreeing on a permanent ceasefire,” according to a statement issued by the Élysée Palace.
