KDP reveals details of high-level Hewlêr meeting

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) revealed that a meeting was held between the party’s president and US officials, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, as well as the Kurdish National Council in Syria. The participants exchanged views and discussed practical steps aimed at strengthening stability and achieving peace in the region.

The KDP’s website reported via its account on the X platform that the party’s president, Masoud Barzani, hosted a high-level meeting today in Pirmam, Hewlêr.

According to the posts, the meeting included: the US Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack, the US Consul General in Hewlêr Wendy Green, the Commander of US Forces in Syria General Kevin Lambert, Colonel Zachary Kork, the General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces Mazloum Abdi, SDF General Leadership member Rohlat Afrin, the Co-Chair of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria Ilham Ahmed, and the President of the Kurdish National Council in Syria Mohammed Ismail.

During the meeting, according to the party’s statement, Barzani welcomed the participants and stressed the importance of working to establish peace and prevent further violence in the region, emphasizing the need for dialogue, stability, and coexistence in a new Syria.

US Special Envoy to Syria Tom Barrack, speaking on behalf of the United States, praised the hospitality and organization of the meeting.

The website noted that the participants exchanged views on a range of issues and discussed practical steps aimed at enhancing stability.
