K. Star condemns assassination of Iraqi activist, demands urgent investigation

In its statement, Kongra Star described the incident as a direct attack on the will of free women and on the voices of human rights defenders.

The organization considered the crime part of a series of attacks targeting female activists and leaders in the field of human rights. The statement noted that such acts aim to intimidate active female voices in public life and undermine women’s role in society.

Kongra Star called on the Iraqi authorities to assume their legal and security responsibilities by launching an urgent and transparent investigation to uncover the circumstances of the crime and hold those responsible accountable.

It also stressed the necessity of providing a safe environment for women human rights defenders and ensuring their protection in accordance with international conventions and applicable laws.

Furthermore, Kongra Star expressed its solidarity with the family of the deceased and her colleagues in human rights work, affirming that targeting women activists will not deter the women’s movement from continuing its efforts to defend women’s rights and advocate for equality and justice.
