K. Star calls to end Afrin occupation, ensure return of IDPs

In a written statement issued on the seventh anniversary of Afrin's occupation, the K. Star declared: "As part of the ongoing policy of genocide practiced by the forces hostile to the will of the peoples in the region, led by the Turkish occupying state, Ankara openly revealed its intentions during its attack on Afrin, following the historic resistance shown by our forces and the people of Afrin striving for freedom and democracy."

The statement added: "Afrin demonstrated a resistance of the era that will remain engraved in the annals of history, thanks to the heroism of martyrs like Avista, Brivan, Barin, Zlal, Anna, Karker, Rojhat, and Aylan."

The statement noted that despite seven years having passed since Afrin's occupation, the city and its people continue to suffer from brutal crimes amounting to war crimes. These include crimes against women such as abduction, forced marriage, and murder, as well as looting, forced displacement, and demographic change.

The statement affirmed that Afrin stands as a clear example of Turkey's expansionist ambitions in the region, aimed at reviving the "Misak-ı Millî" (National Pact) project. Turkey continues its brutal attacks on areas of North and East Syria, which constitute documented war crimes. The statement cited the Kobani massacre in the village of Barkh Botan as concrete evidence of the ongoing crimes.

In conclusion, the K. Star stressed the urgent need to stop these crimes and reiterated its condemnation of the ongoing Turkish occupation of Afrin. It also called on the Damascus authorities to break their silence regarding the continuing crimes in Afrin and to demand the safe return of the displaced to Afrin, Serê Kaniyê, and Girê Spî (Tal Abyad).

The K. Star pledged to escalate the struggle to achieve the return of the people of Afrin, Serê Kaniyê, and Girê Spî to their homes and restore their stolen rights.
