 The statement read as follows:

"On January 10, 2025, our comrade Shahnaz Omar was martyred in an airstrike on the village of Khana Sere in Derik. For years, the fascist Turkish state has sought to avenge ISIS’s defeat by attacking the pioneers of the women’s struggle. These attacks target women leaders on every front. Omar traversed cities like Damascus, Aleppo, and NE Syria, tirelessly advocating for women’s liberation. Her simplicity and humility earned her the love of all women she encountered. Tragically, her companion and driver, Ahmed Hassan, also lost his life in the attack.

Through her hard work, dedication, and unwavering commitment, Shahnaz educated and organized countless women despite facing immense challenges. As a Kurdish woman, she never surrendered to the tyranny of the Ba'ath regime and consistently displayed a firm and determined stance. Her noble dreams and aspirations for freedom will remain our guiding purpose in our struggle."

The statement concluded by commemorating the names of other women who were martyred in January, including Sara, Rojbîn, Ronahî, Bakiza, Fatima, Sîvî, Avîn Koyî, and Karam Shehab al-Hamad.

The Kongra Star emphasized its commitment to continue the struggle:

"We will persist in our fight for freedom no matter how relentless the attacks become. The philosophy of ‘Women, Life, Freedom’ has become a global symbol of resistance and empowerment for women everywhere. Death will not deter us from achieving our goals."
