Jurist: Turkey breaches all international standards and norms

The co-chair of the Lawyers Union in Manbij Canton, Lawyer Omar Barkal, explained: “The international conspiracy against Leader Abdullah Ocalan violated all international norms and conventions, including United Nations laws, Article No. 3, which stipulates that every individual has the right to freedom, life, and security, and Article No. 2, which states that every human being has the right to enjoy all rights and freedoms.”

Omar Barkal stressed that: “Every political person has the right not to return to his country except with his consent, but Turkey and the capitalist countries kidnapped the leader in the country’s space and handed him over to Turkey, and this is in violation of the laws that protect political asylum and in violation of the charters of the United Nations, the official Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, as well as Article 16 of the Charter of the United Nations.

Barkal added: "Day after day, Turkey increases its aggression and violation of human rights laws by continuing to tighten the isolation on Leader Ocalan, and not allowing his lawyer and family to meet him in his solitary confinement cell."

Barkal stressed that the international community must put pressure on the Turkish state to lift the isolation of the leader, and said: “Every country has fixed regional centers through which international organizations can put pressure on Turkey through international forums, and through their foreign representatives present in their embassies in Turkey, or by leaving in demonstrations in front of the embassies of the occupying state as well, collecting signatures in front of the United Nations Assembly and submitting this to the official decision-making centers to release Leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

Since March 25, 2021, the Turkish state authorities have imposed strict isolation on leader Abdullah Ocalan, and prevented his lawyer and family from meeting with him.

Omar Barkal explained that: “The thinker and philosopher Abdullah Ocalan is an internationalist leader, and his physical freedom is a demand for all the peoples of the world, and all of Turkey’s international and regional activities must be stopped, by also expelling its ambassadors, not accepting any complaint from Turkey, and imposing financial taxes in order to end the isolation of the leader and achieve his physical freedom.
