Israeli Military approves "Broad Framework" for Gaza occupation plan

Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir today approved the "broad framework" of the plan to occupy Gaza City, including an assault on the Shejaiya neighborhood south of Gaza City, which began Tuesday.

Military spokesperson Avichay Adraee said the approval came during a meeting that included senior officials from the General Staff, the Shin Bet, and other commanders. The meeting reviewed what he described as the "achievements" of the forces, including the ongoing offensive in Shejaiya.

Adraee added that the Chief of Staff has ordered heightened troop readiness and preparations to call up reservists, alongside conducting field exercises and granting troops a brief rest period in preparation for continued operations.

Last Friday, the Israeli government approved a phased plan presented by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to occupy the entire Gaza Strip and relocate Palestinians from the northern to the southern areas.

Yesterday, Netanyahu announced an acceleration of the Gaza occupation plan, emphasizing that Israel is nearing the conclusion of the campaign. He stated that forces would advance "relatively quickly" to seize control of Gaza City, which he described as Hamas’ last stronghold, with a focus on freeing hostages held within the territory.
