The HEDEP delegation to Imrali met with Turkish President Erdoğan at the Presidential Palace on April 10. The meeting was also attended by the head of the Turkish intelligence agency, İbrahim Kalın, and Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party (AKP), Efkan Ala. The meeting, which included Berwin Buldan and Sırrı Süreyya Önder from the Imrali delegation, lasted approximately one hour and twenty-five minutes.

In a statement to Medya Haber, Berwin Buldan stated that the current peace process would accelerate after the meeting and that they would continue their meetings with political parties. She also announced that they plan to visit Imrali to discuss the April 10 meeting.

Buldan added that they would request a meeting with the Ministry of Justice this week to move the process into a legal framework. She said: “Legal steps must be taken to ensure the progress of this process, especially regarding the right to hope. I believe future steps will be taken on these matters. The process will remain problematic until the parliament assumes its responsibility. We will meet with the Ministry of Justice next week to discuss legal steps. During the meeting, the laws that need to be amended and the necessary legislation will be discussed. Opinions will also be exchanged on the steps that must be taken. Talks will continue to pass these laws.”
