HPG commander: We fulfilled our duty to fullest

On the occasion of the 47th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), National Resistance Day, Kurdistan Freedom Fighters held a celebration in the Medya Defense Zones. The event included a large gathering during which People's Defense Forces (HPG) commander Amed Malaz Kurd delivered a lengthy speech outlining the party's founding, development, and the paths it has traversed over decades of political and military action.

Amed Malaz Kurd began his remarks by congratulating the PKK founder, leader Abdullah Ocalan, the families of martyrs, the Kurdish people, and all friends of the Kurdish people on the 47th anniversary of the party's founding (National Resistance Day). In his remarks, Malaz Kurd pointed to the reasons for the emergence of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), saying,

"The PKK was founded for the national resistance of the Kurdish people. In order to steadfast and consolidate itself, the Kurds had to cling to their culture, language, and identity, and the party worked to establish this foundation."

He added, "If Kurds today, not only in Kurdistan, but throughout the world, proudly declare, 'I am Kurdish,' and consider it a source of pride, then this is thanks to leader Abdullah Ocalan. Previously, many formations emerged as parties, but they failed to achieve intellectual unity among the four parts of Kurdistan. The leader rejected this approach and founded a party that embraces all parts of Kurdistan and all Kurds at its core; the PKK. Therefore, we see today the Kurds rallying around him, adopting his decisions, and considering him their national leader. Leader Abdullah Ocalan's great stature stems from this."

With the martyrdom of comrade Hakki, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) became the party of martyrs

Amed Malaz Kurd drew attention to the figure of Hakki Kerar, one of the most prominent pioneers of the party, saying: "Comrade Hakki was Turkish and one of the first comrades of leader Abdullah Ocalan. The leader said about him, 'He is the hidden spirit within me.' Hakki believed in the leader under difficult circumstances, was influenced by him, and directed his life towards Kurdistan according to this influence. He struggled in the most difficult places and made great efforts. At that stage, there were no party resources, so he worked with his personal effort, bore the burdens, and carried out organizational work wherever he was. With his martyrdom, the party gained official status, and since then, it has become the Martyrs' Party, and it has grown and developed on this basis."

We support the leader with our administration and formation

The commander in the People's Defense Forces (HPG) pointed to the widespread recognition of the party's name in the region and the world over the past 47 years: "If we want to accurately assess the gains, the party has established a revolution. We are the leader's party, therefore we support everything the leader says with our administration and our organization, and we stand by him unequivocally. We are waging a long war, and the battles of the last ten years have not been easy, but extremely harsh. After those wars, it became clear to everyone that the party cannot be eliminated by attacks, and that its resistance increases as the pressure intensifies. After this realization, Devlet Bahçeli himself appealed to the leader, and through the leader's initiative in response to that appeal, many developments were achieved."

We fulfilled the role that was incumbent upon the PKK

Malaz Kurd explained that the party had fulfilled all its obligations, "Leader Abdullah Ocalan said, 'Let the party meet and hold its conference,' so we convened and held the conference. He said, 'Let the party dissolve itself,' so we did. For five years, the war was being waged with great difficulty in the Zap region, where the state mobilized all its resources to eliminate the Guerrilla, but it failed. The leader said, 'To prevent provocations and potential clashes, the forces must be withdrawn,' so we withdrew them. They demanded that we surrender our weapons, and we refused, but out of flexibility, we symbolically destroyed some of them. Finally, to prevent any friction, we withdrew our forces from North Kurdistan as well, and the fact testifies this. We played our part, but the state has not yet taken any concrete steps. We are now monitoring its actions, as the next stage requires serious initiatives. If the Turkish state speaks of brotherhood between Kurds and Turks, it must take concrete steps, the first of which is the freedom of the leader within a legal framework, and the second is ensuring that the Kurds obtain their status in the Turkish Constitution."

He added, "No one can deny the power of leader Abdullah Ocalan anymore. This fact is part of the greatness of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK)."

In closing, Amed Malaz Kurd reiterated his congratulations to leader Abdullah Ocalan, the families of the martyrs, and all the guerrilla fighters on the anniversary of the party's founding (National Resistance Day).

The meeting concluded with chants and slogans, followed by a celebration featuring songs, theatrical performances, and traditional dances.
