Hezbollah explained in a statement that its drone targeted the headquarters of the northern region command of the Israeli army in “Safad.” it added that the attack came in response to the assassination of the Deputy Head of the Political Bureau of Hamas, Saleh Al-Arouri, in Beirut, and Wissam Al-Tawil, a prominent leader in Hezbollah.

For his part, an Israeli army spokesman said that a base in the north was subjected to an air attack, but without damage or loss of life. The exact location of the incident was not determined. The Israeli army confirmed that "an enemy plane crashed into a base" belonging to it in northern Israel, "with no injuries or damage reported."

Al-Arouri was killed with six others last Tuesday by an Israeli air strike in the southern suburb of Beirut.
