The history of the Kurds in Syria cannot be understood solely through recent decades or reduced to the Kurdish issue in its current political form. Their presence spans successive historical, social and political layers that have made them part of the country’s formation. From their historical presence in a number of Syrian cities and regions, to their participation in political, military and cultural life, and their role in resisting the French Mandate and contributing to the establishment of modern Syrian state institutions, Kurds have remained present at key stages of Syria’s history, before their cause later became one of the country’s prominent political and rights issues.

Students displaced from Serkaniya called for a safe return to their villages and towns, amid continued obstacles preventing their return, including the destruction and occupation of some homes. This comes as winter approaches and their suffering in the camps increases. (Photos and video attached.)

Rising public transport fares in Hasakah city have affected movement within the city after the suspension of service diesel supplies to minibus operators, increasing the living costs for both residents and minibus owners. A young man from the city of Derbesiyeh has visited 37 countries across Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia on an ongoing journey. He has documented his encounters with different cultures and travel experiences through photography and social media, saying that traveling has become an essential part of his life while emphasizing his commitment to preserving his Kurdish identity and language wherever he goes.
